European Citizenship in Practice — VISUAL-EU Winter School

Yesterday I attended Prof. Olena Pimenowa’s seminar (Module V4: European Citizenship & Community Engagement) within the first VISUAL-EU Winter School 2025 at VIZJA University. 🇪🇺💬
What we worked on:
• European citizenship in practice — rights, mobility, participation, non-discrimination; how EU citizenship connects with national identity and local belonging in Poland. 🧭
• HEIs as civic hubs — student/staff initiatives (debate clubs, local forums, community partnerships) that make EU themes tangible on campus. 🏛️
• Designing micro-engagement projects — turning EU values into concrete activities (EU Days, visual exhibitions, mini-labs, participatory mapping) with clear objectives, target groups, and simple indicators. 🧩✍️
Self-study tasks challenged students to draft a 1-page concept note and map partners (student council, NGOs, municipal offices) to support EU-related engagement. The discussion was sharp, applied, and inspiring — so energising to see young Europeans who already know and understand so much. 🌍✨
