Visualizing the EU: Enhancing Public Awareness  of European Policies, Values, and Initiatives at Polish HEIs

Project Team Members

VISUAL-EU is delivered by an interdisciplinary team whose expertise brings together European Studies, multilingual and digital education, political science, law, economics, sustainability, and public communication. This combination is central to the project’s mission: not only to teach about the European Union, but also to make EU values, policies, and initiatives more visible, understandable, and relevant to higher education and society.

Dr. Habil. Yan Kapranov — Project Coordinator and Academic Lead

Dr. Habil. Yan Kapranov serves as the Project Coordinator of VISUAL-EU and provides the project’s overall academic and strategic leadership.

He is responsible for coordinating the project’s implementation, ensuring coherence among its educational, research, and dissemination components, overseeing the development of the VISUAL-EU Hub, and leading Module 3, EU Values in Action: Case Studies from Member States. As a Professor at VIZJA University, he brings extensive experience in multilingual education, corpus linguistics, European Studies, and interdisciplinary academic teaching. His profile is particularly relevant to VISUAL-EU because he combines subject expertise with a strong record of managing EU-funded and Jean Monnet projects, including VISUAL-EU, ROAD2EU, ESPERIDTA, EVUESS, and MCRESR.

This makes him especially well-suited to lead a project that requires not only academic vision but also institutional coordination, digital development, and international educational outreach.

Dr. Habil. Olena Pimenowa — Sustainability, Strategy, and Community Engagement Dimension

Dr. Habil. Olena Pimenowa contributes the project’s strategic, socio-economic, and sustainability-oriented perspective.

In the VISUAL-EU team, she is presented as responsible for linking European citizenship and community engagement with wider questions of institutional development, sustainability, social responsibility, and long-term public value.

She is a University Professor at VIZJA University, Head of Economic Studies, and Head of the Audit and Analytics of Sustainable Development Studies.

Her expertise includes microeconomics, competitive strategy, entrepreneurship, business informatics, corporate social responsibility, ESG-related issues, and sustainable development regulation. She also brings substantial international academic experience and an extensive publication record in sustainability and development-related research.

This profile is highly relevant to VISUAL-EU because the project is not only about explaining EU values, but also about showing how these values translate into responsible institutional practice, public engagement, and sustainable futures.

Dr. Bożena Iwanowska — Module Leader for EU Governance & Decision-Making Processes

Dr. Bożena Iwanowska is responsible for the governance and institutional strand of VISUAL-EU.

She leads Module 1, EU Governance & Decision-Making Processes, and contributes to the project’s teaching, research, and dissemination activities.

Her academic profile combines political science, diplomacy, law, translation, and public-oriented education. At VIZJA University, she serves as Assistant Professor and directs both the Academic Centre for Holocaust and Genocide Research and the Academic Centre for Political Thought and Leadership Research. She is also a certified sworn translator and interpreter of English and Russian. Her teaching and research experience in constitutional law, political systems, international affairs, and leadership studies make her particularly well-suited to explain EU institutions, governance mechanisms, and policy processes in a clear, interdisciplinary, and accessible way.

This is precisely the kind of expertise VISUAL-EU needs to make complex European structures more understandable to diverse audiences.

Dr. Dawid Stadniczeńko — Module Leader for Digital Storytelling & EU Policy Communication

Dr. Dawid Stadniczeńko is responsible for the legal and communication-oriented strand of VISUAL-EU.

He leads Module 2, Digital Storytelling & EU Policy Communication, and contributes to the project’s research, teaching, and dissemination work.

A Doctor of Laws, attorney, and Assistant Professor at VIZJA University, he combines academic expertise with substantial professional legal practice. His teaching portfolio includes legal interpretation and argumentation, international public law, humanitarian law, diplomatic and consular law, legal status of foreigners, and related subjects. He has also served in a range of institutional and professional roles that connect legal knowledge with public responsibility and civic frameworks.

This combination is especially valuable for VISUAL-EU, because one of the project’s central tasks is to communicate complex EU policies in ways that are accurate, structured, understandable, and socially meaningful. His profile strengthens the project’s capacity to bridge legal substance and public communication.
